Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam will lead the Bangladesh Premier League governing council. The decision was taken in the first board meeting where different committees have been distributed among the board directors who will run the show for the next four years after earning success in the just concluded BCB election.

The newly elected BCB officially announced the members of its new standing committees that were not without a surprise considering there was no place for vice president Faruque Ahmed in it. The decision came following a board meeting on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

"There was no problem (in the meeting) as I had to leave due to personal reasons," Faruque told Cricbuzz on Tuesday. "I did not take any committee as I want to take it slow considering I just returned in the board room. Surely I will contribute for the betterment of cricket to the best of my capacity," he said.

On behalf of the board directors, Iftekhar Rahman Mithu announced the standing committees in the presence of newly elected board directors Shahnian Tanim, Abdur Razzak, Khaled Mashud Pilot and Amjad Hossain.

BCB President Aminul Islam will head the Working Committee and the Grounds Committee while also serving as the Chairman of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Governing Council. Mithu will act as the Member Secretary of the BPL Governing Council, in addition to his role as Chairman of the Umpires Department.

During the briefing, Iftekhar said that the upcoming BPL will be held on schedule in its usual December-January window. "One major decision we took was about the BPL. Since we've selected the December-January slot for the tournament, we will go ahead with hosting the BPL within that window," Mithu told reporters.

Former national captain Khaled Masud Pilot will oversee the High Performance Unit, while another former cricketer, Abdur Razzak, will head the Women's Wing. Iftekhar said that the committee allocations might change if anyone expresses their desire to switch. "Everyone gladly accepted what they got, including me," said Iftekhar.

Former captain Pilot said that they will function together as a team. "There are 25 directors here. This is a team that works together, and the members come from different walks of life. The ideas we discuss do not come only from the departments I oversee - ideas are coming from everywhere," said Pilot.

Meanwhile Cricbuzz earlier reported that NSC is eyeing a woman representative after they had withdrawn the nomination of Ishfaq Ahsan and it was learnt Rubaba Dowla is the front runner to fill the post.
