In a shocking incident from Nagpur, actor Priyanshu, also known as Babu Ravi Singh Chhetri, who rose to fame for his role in the Hindi film Jhund (2022), was allegedly murdered by a friend following a drunken brawl in the early hours of Wednesday, police said. He was 21 years old.The accused, Dhruv Lal Bahadur Sahu (20), has been arrested in connection with the case.

Brawl turned deadly

According to police, Priyanshu and Dhruv were friends who often consumed alcohol together. “After midnight on Tuesday, Sahu and Chhetri went to an abandoned house in the Jaripatka area for a drinking session,” a police official told PTI. “During the session, an argument broke out, Priyanshu threatened Sahu, and later fell asleep.”Fearing harm, Sahu allegedly tied Priyanshu with wires and attacked him with a sharp weapon, leaving him half-naked. Locals spotted the injured actor, who was immediately rushed to Mayo Hospital, where he was declared dead during treatment.

Priyanshu’s cinematic journey

Priyanshu gained recognition for his role in Jhund, a biographical sports drama starring Amitabh Bachchan and directed by Nagraj Manjule. The film chronicles the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of Slum Soccer, and Priyanshu played a supporting role that earned him critical acclaim.
