Erling Haaland has achieved a new Champions League record and is approaching another milestone. The Manchester City striker reached 50 goals in just 49 appearances on Wednesday, breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy's previous record of 50 goals in 62 games.Haaland is now closing in on Lionel Messi's record of scoring 60 goals in 80 Champions League appearances. Following his two goals against Monaco, Haaland has now scored 52 goals in 50 games.Despite his scoring achievements, Haaland expressed disappointment after City drew 2-2 with Monaco due to a late penalty."It isn't good enough," the Norwegian said after the match. "We have to try to win the next game. It is the only thing we can do."The match saw Haaland give City the lead twice at Stade Louis II. He scored the opening goal in the 15th minute, but Jordan Teze equalised three minutes later. Haaland found the net again in the 44th minute. However, Eric Dier converted a penalty awarded for Nico Gonzalez's high boot to level the score.The Norwegian striker continues his impressive scoring form this season. He has now scored 17 goals in 10 games for both club and country.The only match where Haaland failed to score this season was in City's 2-0 defeat to Tottenham in August.
