The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league during the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations embracing this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, has confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the association is still working to identify an ideal time frame for the tournament. The number of participating teams and other crucial details are yet to be determined.
These domestic T20 leagues are increasingly becoming vital scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide invaluable platforms. They allow local talent to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
