Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli's Parenting Philosophy: A Family-First Approach
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are celebrated as one of India's most beloved celebrity couples, admired for their enduring love and their thoughtful approach to family and parenting. Their relationship began in 2013 during a commercial shoot, and their natural chemistry quickly captivated audiences both on and off the screen.
The couple married in a beautiful ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, in December 2017. Since then, their family has grown with the arrival of their daughter, Vamika, in January 2021, and their son, Akaay, in February 2024.
"It's a Family Unit, Not Just Mum and Dad Duties"
In a past interview with Vogue, Anushka shared her and Virat's parenting goals. She stated, "We don’t see it as mum and dad duties, but as a family unit. For us, it’s important that our child be raised with a very balanced outlook. In Virat’s case, he plays around the year. What becomes important is the time we spend together as a family.”
Setting the Right Example for Their Children
Anushka also emphasized the importance of children learning from their parents' behavior and actions. She noted, “Times have changed. It’s important for children to look at parents—they learn from you. And there is a sense of normalcy that both of us do work. Of course, one will have to manage things differently and more efficiently to work.”
Choosing Privacy Over Public Attention
Unlike many celebrity couples who frequently share photos of their children on social media, Anushka and Virat have consciously chosen a different path. They rarely post pictures of their kids and make a deliberate effort to protect their family's privacy. Anushka explained their decision, stating, “We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through.”
Anushka Sharma was last seen in a cameo role in the OTT film ‘Qala’. She is currently enjoying motherhood and prioritizing her family life.
