India seized control on the first day of the five-match series against England, finishing at 359 for 3. Yashasvi Jaiswal (101) and captain Shubman Gill (127*) dominated the English attack with their impressive batting display.

The pair forged a crucial 123-run partnership for the third wicket, stabilizing the innings after India lost two quick wickets before lunch.

A moment of near-disaster occurred shortly after the break when Gill attempted a quick single. A direct hit from England's vice-captain Ollie Pope would have sent him back to the pavilion, but a desperate dive saved his wicket.

A video capturing a light-hearted exchange between Jaiswal and Gill has gone viral on social media.

Jaiswal jokingly remarked, "Haan haan, bolte rehna bas. Meri aadat hai aage jaane ki" (Yes, yes, you keep calling, I have this habit of charging out).

Gill responded, "Bhaag mat jaiyo bas" (Just don’t take off carelessly).

Jaiswal then told his captain, "Mereko jor se 'no' bol do chalega, meri aadat hai lekin" (Just shout 'no' loudly, I’m fine with that — I just have this habit of going for a run).

True to his word, when Jaiswal tapped the ball to short point and looked for a single, Gill firmly shouted "NO!".

"Arey aa jao yaar" (Come on, let’s take the single), Jaiswal pleaded. Gill stood his ground, leading to a disappointed, "Bhaiya yaar..." from the 23-year-old Jaiswal.

Gill apologized, explaining, "Thoda aage tha yeh, sorry" (He was a bit forward, sorry).
