Actor-turned-politician Vijay has been officially designated as the Chief Ministerial candidate for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This significant decision was reached through a special resolution during the party's State Executive Committee meeting held at the TVK headquarters in Chennai.
According to NDTV, the meeting, led by Vijay himself, also initiated plans for a large-scale state conference scheduled for next month.
In parallel with his political career, Vijay is preparing for the release of his highly anticipated film, 'Jana Nayagan,' directed by H. Vinoth. The recently released teaser for 'Jana Nayagan' has garnered positive feedback from audiences.
Priyamani, a prominent actress in 'Jana Nayagan,' expressed her admiration for Vijay, stating, "I’m super excited to share screen space with Vijay… I hope this isn’t his last film," as reported by Wionews.
Mamitha Baiju, another key actress in 'Jana Nayagan,' shared insights from the Kerala Carnival in Ireland, recounting her conversation with Vijay about whether 'Jana Nayagan' would be his final film. Vijay responded that his future in cinema hinges on the outcome of the elections, stating, "we’ll see what happens.”
'Jana Nayagan' boasts a star-studded cast, including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Mamitha Baiju. Meanwhile, Vijay's previous film, the action-oriented 'GOAT,' did not resonate with audiences as expected.
