Key Zimbabwean players Richard Ngarava, Ben Curran, and Sikandar Raza will be absent from the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. Zimbabwe Cricket announced the 16-man squad, revealing that injuries sideline Ngarava and Curran, while Raza is committed to franchise cricket.

Curran is out with a fractured finger sustained during a match against South Africa earlier in the month. Ngarava suffered a lower back injury during the England Test last month. Fast-bowler Victor Nyauchi is also missing due to tactical reasons. Sikandar Raza will be unavailable due to his commitments with the Seattle Orcas in the MLC.

These absences pave the way for opportunities for other players. Uncapped fast-bowler Kundai Matigimu, 27, receives his chance, while legspinner Vincent Masekesa, who played in the Bangladesh Test series in April, makes a return. Trevor Gwandu also strengthens the bowling attack after recovering from a groin injury. Batsmen Prince Masvaure and Takudzwanashe Kaitano are included to reinforce Zimbabwe's top order.

The batting lineup benefits from the experience of captain Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, and Brian Bennett. Blessing Muzarabani will lead the pace attack.

The first Test is scheduled from June 28 to July 2, followed by the second Test from July 6 to July 10. Both matches will be held at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe Squad: Craig Ervine (Captain), Brian Bennett, Tanaka Chivanga, Trevor Gwandu, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Wessly Madhevere, Clive Madande, Vincent Masekesa, Wellington Masakadza, Prince Masvaure, Kundai Matigimu, Blessing Muzarabani, Newman Nyamhuri, Tafadzwa Tsiga (wk), Nicholas Welch, Sean Williams.
