English Fan's Unconventional Ode to Akash Deep Goes Viral After Edgbaston Triumph
Following his stellar performance at Edgbaston, where he claimed 10 wickets in a match, Akash Deep has become a household name in the world of cricket. His contribution was instrumental in India's resounding 336-run victory, leveling the series. Akash Deep's figures of 6 for 99 in the second innings led to a match total of 10 for 187, earning him accolades from across the globe.
An endearing video has surfaced on social media showcasing an English fan serenading the 28-year-old outside the Edgbaston stadium. The fan is heard singing, "Akash Deep, Akash Deep Bowling England Out, Akash Deep!" in a show of respect for the cricketer's remarkable display.
Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary cricketer, lauded Akash Deep as the "standout bowler" of the match. He even described Deep's delivery that dismissed Joe Root in the second innings as the "ball of the series."
Tendulkar expressed his admiration on X, stating, "India’s approach was to take England out of this game and force them to play differently, making sure that there would only be 1 winner. What impressed me most about the bowlers was the length they bowled."
He further added, "Needless to say, Akash Deep was the standout bowler, and in my opinion, he bowled the ball of the series to Joe Root."
Tendulkar also acknowledged Siraj's diving catch at short mid-wicket, humorously referring to him as "Mohammad 'Jonty' Siraj," referencing the famous South African fielder Jonty Rhodes.
