New research indicates that diet can protect lungs from air pollution, especially in women. A study of 200,000 participants revealed women consuming certain foods daily experienced smaller reductions in lung function despite PM2.5 exposure. This protective effect is linked to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds. A new study presented at the European Respiratory Society Congress suggests that certain dietary habits may help protect lung function from the harmful effects of air pollution.
