Chocolate-Covered Fruit Snacks Recalled Nationwide Over Metal Contamination Fears: FDA Warns of Potential Injuries

A popular brand of chocolate-covered fruit snack products sold nationwide in the United States have been recalled due to potential metal contamination. It could cause traumatic injury. "Hard or sharp foreign objects in food may cause traumatic injury including laceration and perforation of tissues of the mouth, tongue, throat, stomach and intestine as well as damage to the teeth and gums," the FDA cautioned. Consumers are advised to discard affected items, identifiable by manufacturing codes on the packaging, and can seek a refund. No injuries have been reported as of September 26.
