Stand-up comedian Vir Das Praises Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par'
Vir Das, the celebrated stand-up comedian and actor, known for his wit and honest opinions, has shared his thoughts on Aamir Khan's latest film, "Sitaare Zameen Par". The film, which premiered on Friday, June 20, is a remake of the Spanish film 'Champions' and features Aamir Khan, Genelia D'souza Deshmukh, and a cast of children with disabilities.
Das expressed his admiration for the movie, writing, "Folks! Go see #SitaareZameenPar Not just because it’s REALLY good and breezy. Not just because the ensemble wins your heart. Not just because it’s someone of massive stature constantly sharing his platform for meaningful content. Not just because it’s a departure from the action overload. But also because it’s genuinely funny."
He further elaborated on the film's comedic elements, stating, "In a comedy scene one party has to hold power and drive. That’s basic comedy 101. The best comedy surprises you with that choice. It wears its heart on its sleeve and gives power, prominence, and punch lines to those comedy normally doesn’t. That makes it WAY funnier. Go see it! In theatres now."
Despite initial projections estimating a single-digit opening, trade analysts anticipated the film to earn around Rs 7-8 crore on its first day. However, "Sitaare Zameen Par" exceeded expectations, grossing approximately Rs 11.7 crore, according to Sacnilk. With positive word-of-mouth spreading, the film is expected to see further growth over the weekend.
