Bangladesh have retained Jaker Ali Anik as their captain for the T20I series against Afghanistan, with Litton Das unavailable. Jaker had previously stood in for Litton during Bangladesh’s last two Asia Cup Super Four matches after Litton suffered a rib injury in a training session ahead of the clash against India in Dubai.

Jaker struggled in the Asia Cup, losing both matches as captain and managing just 71 runs in six games at an average of 23.66 and a strike rate of 107.57, with a top score of 41 not out against Sri Lanka in the group stage.

Bangladesh, earlier, crashed out of the Asia Cup after losing to Pakistan in their last Super 4 game. They started the Super 4 with a win over Sri Lanka before losing momentum against India and Pakistan.

Soumya Sarkar recalled

Meanwhile, Bangladesh have recalled left-handed batter Soumya Sarkar, who last played T20Is on the tour of the West Indies last year. Soumya recently represented Khulna Division in the National Cricket League, scoring 63 and 45 against Rajshahi Division and Dhaka Metro.

The T20I series is scheduled for October 2, 3, and 5 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, followed by a three-match ODI series from October 8 to 14.
